Sturdee Energy is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Dytor as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman to its Board, bringing more than four decades of leadership experience to support the company’s next phase of growth across Southern Africa.
Mark’s career spans mining, chemicals, water and industrial sectors, underpinned by deep expertise in corporate governance, capital investment, sustainability and strategic growth across South Africa and the broader African market. His appointment strengthens Sturdee’s Board and equips the company as it continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio across the SADC region.
From 2013 to 2023, Mark served as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of AECI Limited, having progressed through a number of senior executive positions within the group before his appointment as CEO. During his tenure, he led AECI through significant strategic transformation — steering major capital investment programmes, acquisitions and disposals, while strengthening the group’s sustainability agenda. His track record includes approximately US$1 billion in major capital expenditure, 13 acquisitions and four disposals.
Mark’s career began in the mining industry before he moved into the chemicals sector, where he built a career across a range of operational and executive roles. Since leaving AECI, he has established Dytor Capital, where he serves as Owner, CEO, Chairman and Board Director, alongside a number of non-executive and chairman positions held elsewhere.
He brings particularly strong experience in working with boards, management teams, banks, development finance institutions and institutional investors. His deep understanding of growing large companies positions him well to support Sturdee as it continues to grow its renewable energy platform across Southern Africa.
